how to save money on home lighting?
The
electricity bill this year becomes more expensive: due to inflation and some
provisions contained in the Def. from October, there will be a 6% increase in
lighting spending. A real drain on Italian families already tried by the
crisis. Therefore, now more than ever, it is essential to implement good
practices and tricks to cut consumption and therefore spend less.
Here are some easy tips on how to
save on home lighting.
1. First of all to reduce consumption,
you need to use the lights well turn them on only when really necessary,
preferring when you have the possibility of natural light and remember to
always turn off the switch when you leave a room, it seems trivial but these
bad habits are the source primary of electrical waste.
2. It is then necessary to use
energy-saving led light bulbs, better if led: they consume less, last longer and do not
pollute. In this way, your bill can drop up to 60% in one year.
3. Another trick is to use large bulbs
or even large ones instead of spotlights: you will use a single energy source
to light up the room instead of two small ones.
4. Attention, then, to the use of
household appliances: when they are not in use, turn them off completely with
the off button instead of leaving them in standby, the standby mode is in fact
very expensive. In particular televisions and computers: if you are not using
they turn them off and also remove the plugs from the switches, to avoid that
in the bill, the costs for any current leakages end.
5. As for the chandeliers, avoid halogen
lamps: they are really very polluting and have a huge energy impact.
6. Another heavy item in the domestic
lighting bill is that of the external lights: at night when you sleep or during
the day when you are not at home you do not need the lights on in the garden or
on the balcony, so turn them off. Only turn them on when strictly necessary,
your wallet will thank you. Alternatively, use a motion sensor, which will
allow your lighting system to switch on only when needed.
7. Finally, if you have the opportunity,
let a lighting expert consult with you, the science that studies the position
of lights and lamps by virtue of sunlight: for a study or kitchen choose the
environment of the house that is most illuminated by the sun, in this way the
hours in which you will be forced to turn on the chandelier or the lamp will be
reduced.
8. Also check your domestic lighting
meters and try to communicate the consumption cyclically, at least once a
month, to avoid maxi adjustments in the bill.
